I'm baaaaack!

It has been a long time since I have updated this blog...in part because I'm just not good at keeping up with it...and also because I took a little bit of a break from cupcakes for a while. Almost a year ago (whoa.) we welcomed our first baby, Elliott Lane, into the world. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes during pregnancy and, honestly, just couldn't stand the temptation of all the sugary goodness that a Cutecake has to offer. Then, after his arrival, I turned all of my focus towards being a first-time mom...no longer trying out new icing recipes, but instead making homemade baby food! Anywho, I'm back! Need cupcakes? Happy Birthday, Sidney!

Our niece, Sidney, turned 4 on Aug. 18! I made these puppet cupcakes for her party. She and her guests watched a puppet show, made puppets, and then ate puppets! This was my biggest cupcake challenge to date and I was please with how they turned out! I even made a special 'birthday princess' cupcake for Sidney:)

I made these cupcakes for Lifepoint's baptism/pool party. Several kids got baptized. We celebrated with lots of food and swimming. I love my church family! It was a great night!

My nephew, Collin, turned 1 last month. He had a a fun "cars and trucks" themed party! The stoplight cupcakes are made with m&ms and the cars and trucks are made with snickers bars and hershey's kissables candy. Collin, of course, had a special "1" cupcake just for him! [I think he liked the icing best!] Love you Collin!

A friend of mine ordered these for a friend's birthday...carrot cake and cinnamon swirl. Both are topped with rich cream cheese icing. If you enjoy a gooey cinnamon roll, you'll love the cinnamon swirl cutecake. And, carrot cake lovers, you know who you are:)

My cousin, Carson, turned 8 years old last month and we had a family party to celebrate! It was the first time in over a year that our ENTIRE family got together. We ate a big lunch, sang happy birthday, and enjoyed multiple desserts! I made an attempt to incorporate Carson's love for Transformers into the cupcake design. "Optimus Prime" was made out of melted chocolate. I made a handful of these for the kids and the rest were my triple chocolate cutecakes. They are made with chocolate fudge cake and chocolate buttercream icing, drizzled with chocolate and topped with chocolate shavings. Now that will satisfy any chocaholic!

Popcorn anyone?

Tonight was my first cupcake party! Meghan celebrated her 9th birthday with a movie-themed slumber party so we made these popcorn cupcakes. I brought all of the supplies and showed the girls how to make them. I think I had just as much fun as they did! Sure did bring back childhood sleep over memories...
